Victoria Canal Is Back For More!

Inspired her grandmother, a piano teacher, Victoria Canal began taking lessons at the age of 6. At age 11, she knew she wanted to be a singer-songwriter and immediately started working to make that dream a reality. Moving from Shanghai, Tokyo, Barcelona, Madrid, Dubai, Amsterdam, and eventually New York City, Canal took it upon herself to enroll in online school in order to focus on her music career more seriously.

Confident and empowering, Canal writes, produces and performs her music. She intricately crafts songs with soul and flow, honing vulnerability to promote genuity. Sharing a mix of her own music online as well as covers of artists such as Bon Iver and Taylor Swift, she quickly moved to recording a debut EP and playing in world-renowned venues such as Red Rocks, the Apollo, and the Kennedy Center, and touring with Michael Franti. Franti stumbled upon the young artist via Instagram and was instantly moved by her inspiring lyrics and constant positivity. With this, he invited her to Nashville which eventually led to the recording of “The Flower.” Written as a preach to find oasis and peace in a time of political and social division, the product is something both artists are proud of. “The Flower” appears on Franti’s most recent album “Stay Human Vol. II”.

Born with one arm as the result of Amniotic Band Syndrome, Canal’s performance technique may be unique, but she plays just as effortlessly as anyone else. With her diagnosis, she has taken upon the quest to prove that everyone is born differently, and our differences are what help us establish our greatest strengths.

“Since everyone deals with their own battles, it should be humanity’s mission to find acceptance and openness in themselves and in each other. To embrace our differences is to know our greatest strengths.”

Racking up six million streams on Spotify on her moving ballad “City Shoes” in 2016, Canal took a short break from releasing new music until 2018. Now back with new material, Canal has been amazing crowds and moving individuals with her delicate, yet powerful voice.

In order to imagine her sound, envision if Alicia Keys and Norah Jones were to have a musical child. That would be Victoria Canal. Encompassing soul, pop, and R&B in her recent single, “He Won’t Know,” Canal has progressed towards establishing her platform and genre.
