Emerson Hart is Yountville Live’s Original Gangster
On his recent record, “Beauty in Disrepair,” Emerson Hart touches on loss, but also the beauty of rebirth, newfound love, family, and starting a clean slate. The record is a remarkably polished and honest follow-up to his 2007 solo debut Cigarettes & Gasoline, a critically-acclaimed album that spawned two Top 20 singles.
When out on the road, Hart, who is also the frontman and songwriter for Tonic, likes to play some of Tonic’s smash hits like “Open Up Your Eyes” and “If You Could Only See” as a nod to the songs that carved out the path to his successful career in music.
“Fans of my first record. Die-hard Tonic fans. And I’ll play those songs. I wrote ‘em! And then you’ll see those guys who don’t know me, who hear me play ‘If You Could Only See” and their eyes light up and they connect the dots. They’re like, oh, it’s that guy.”
Hart is a dear friend to the Live In The Vineyard team and we are thrilled he will return to perform for a 5th year at our Taste of Yountville event. As the kids call it … he’s an O.G. aka, “original gangster.”
